Calgary, AB --- January 22, 2002 --- SMART Technologies Inc. announces that the latest version of SMART Board software for Microsoft Windows with SMART Board driver 7.0 and SMART Notebook
2.4 software, is available in five languages namely English, French, Spanish, German and Japanese. This new release also includes SMART Recorder, a feature with which users can easily capture and save synchronized data and audio. The award-winning SMART Board software works with all of SMART's interactive whiteboards, including the SMART Board, Rear Projection SMART Board and SMART Board for Plasma Displays and is available free to SMART customers from the SMART Web site.

Using the SMART Board interactive whiteboard, powered by SMART Board software, a user can control computer applications simply by pressing on the board's touch-sensitive surface. When a pen is selected from the SMART Pen Tray, a user can write over top of any application using either his finger or a stylus – no special tools are required to operate the SMART Board interactive whiteboard.
When SMART Recorder is activated, all annotations and applications displayed on the SMART Board interactive whiteboard can be recorded to a single file. Using any standard microphone, audio is captured in the same file and automatically synched with the data. This file can be played back in Mircrosoft Windows Media Player or viewed online.
